Good morning, Memphis! ☀️
Today's forecast:
more heat, unfortunately
but: a 100% chance of free frozen treats
along with jumbo shrimp at the ballpark
and one downtown favorite deciding to stick around for a long, long time.
Let's get into it.

🎬 The Majestic Grille Just Signed On for 10 More Years Downtown

The Majestic Grille
The curtain isn't closing anytime soon: The Majestic Grille just signed a new 10-year lease at 145 S. Main St.
Encore! Encore. Owners Patrick and Deni Reilly have run the South Main spot for about two decades, and the new lease with longtime landlord Belz Enterprises keeps them downtown for 10 more years. The Daily Memphian first reported the deal.
Dinner and a movie. The building opened in 1913 as the Majestic No. 1 Theatre, a silent movie house — which is why the dining room still glows with old-Hollywood style more than a century later.

🤠 Free Country Night at Lakeland's Amphitheater This Saturday

City of Lakeland
Grab a lawn chair — the Neon Mooners headline Lakeland's free LAMP Concert Series this Saturday, Aug. 22.
Boot, scoot, and boogie. The Memphis party band covers '80s and '90s country legends (think Brooks & Dunn, George Strait, Shania Twain and Garth Brooks) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at IH Park, 4523 Canada Road. Admission is free; just bring your lawn chairs or blankets.
Mooner mystery. The band keeps its members' real names "secret", and it's the same act that has packed the Peabody's rooftop parties.
Circle two more free IH Park dates while you're at it: the Homecoming concert Sept. 26 and the Harvest Festival with Rowdy and the Strays Oct. 24.

⚾ The Jumbo Shrimp Are in Town and Tickets Start at $9.01

Memphis Redbirds
Starting tonight, the Memphis Redbirds host the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp for six straight games at AutoZone Park.
A big catch. Yes, the Jumbo Shrimp are real. They're the Miami Marlins' Triple-A baseball club, and their name is a proud oxymoron. They’ll face our Cardinals-affiliated Redbirds Tuesday through Sunday, with weeknight games at 6:45 p.m. and tickets starting at $9.01.
Pick your theme night. Thursday is 2000's Night ($2 PBRs and $7 student tickets), Friday is SpongeBob Night (a Bikini Bottom button-up shirt for the first 1,500 fans), Saturday is Harry Potter Night with a house-scarf giveaway and postgame fireworks, and Sunday wraps with a 21+ brunch ticket (yes, bottomless mimosas) plus Kids Run the Bases after the game.
