A French-Asian Bakery is Coming to Overton Square

Midtown is about to get a little sweeter.
Popular French-Asian bakery Tous les Jours has reportedly signed a lease for a new location in Overton Square, marking another major addition to one of Memphis' busiest entertainment districts.
The bakery, which already has a successful East Memphis location on Poplar Avenue, has quickly developed a following for its fresh-baked pastries, coffee drinks, and signature Korean-inspired baked goods.
The new shop will occupy space at 6 S. Cooper Street, bringing breakfast, dessert, and grab-and-go options to the heart of Midtown.
The grand opening date has not yet been announced, but you can read more about the story here.

The Memphis Zoo Is Going Solar

The Memphis Zoo is moving forward with a rooftop solar installation backed by federal grant funding.
The zoo received a $670,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to install rooftop solar panels on buildings, expand community outreach and clean energy education programs, and develop a waste characterization study.
The zoo is one of the largest consumers of power among all city-owned facilities, making this both an environmental and a financial win.
When complete, these will be the first solar panels on any city-owned building in Memphis. A historic milestone!
Mayor Paul Young called it a reflection of what strong public-private partnerships can accomplish.

Memphis Athletics Sets Another Fundraising Record
The University of Memphis Athletic Department announced a record-breaking fundraising year, bringing in $35.3 million across more than 5,500 donors across the 2025-26 year. The Tigers beat last years record by almost 10 percent.
The momentum is going directly toward bricks and mortar: nearly $223 million has been secured across three major facility initiatives, including Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, the Liza Wellford Fletcher Stadium Project and the Rhodes-Hanson Academic Center, which is set to open in January 2027.
Not a bad time to be a Tiger!
