Happy Friday, Memphis!
We like making your life easier. Every Friday, we round up events and live music happening this weekend around the 901, so that all you have to do is decide who you’re bringing.
This one’s a big one: it’s tax-free weekend, the last hurrah before school starts back Monday, and the Memphis Classic crowns a champion Sunday.
Let’s dive in.
What’s Happening This Weekend

All Weekend Long
🛍️ Tennessee Sales Tax Holiday (Everywhere in Tennessee)
The state’s tax-free weekend lands right before the first bell rings Monday. Clothing and school supplies $100 or less and computers $1,500 or less are exempt from state and local sales tax. Jewelry, handbags and sports equipment don’t count — nice try.
Friday: Starts at 12:01 AM
Saturday: All day
Sunday: Ends at 11:59 PM
🎾 The Memphis Classic: Championship Weekend (Leftwich Tennis Center)
Pro women’s tennis is back in Memphis, and this is the business end of it. Nine days of matches come down to a champion Sunday afternoon.
Friday: 11 AM & 6 PM sessions
Saturday: 1 PM (Semifinals)
Sunday: 12:30 PM (Final)
🦆 Ducks Unlimited Expo (Renasant Convention Center)
DU is headquartered right here, and its expo fills the convention center with roughly 300 vendors, duck-calling competitions, a conservation corner and the “Duck Den.”
Friday: 12–6 PM
Saturday: 9 AM–6 PM
Sunday: 9 AM–4 PM
🗳️ SUFFS (The Orpheum)
The Tony-winning musical about the American suffragists plays four performances and then it’s gone. Runs about 2.5 hours; recommended for ages 10+.
Friday: 7:30 PM
Saturday: 2 PM & 7:30 PM
Sunday: 1 PM (Final Performance)
