Three local baseball standouts are officially one step closer to the big leagues after being selected during the opening day of the MLB Draft.

  • Cole Prosek (Magnolia Heights/Senatobia) was selected 41st overall by the Chicago White Sox, making him the area's highest draft pick after earning Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year honors.

  • Will Brick (Christian Brothers) was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. The standout catcher is still committed to Mississippi State, but Toronto is expected to make a strong push to sign him.

  • Collin Bland (Houston High School) was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays, giving Houston High its second straight year with a player drafted into Major League Baseball.

Congratulations to all three local stars.

🛒 Could a Grocery Store Be Coming Near St. Jude?

via Community Redevelopment Agency

One of the biggest needs in Downtown Memphis may finally be getting attention. Leaders are discussing plans that could bring a much-needed grocery store to the area surrounding St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

  • The proposal is part of broader redevelopment efforts happening around the growing medical district.

  • A grocery option has long been one of the most requested amenities from employees, patients, and nearby residents.

  • The project is still in the planning stages, but it would significantly improve access to a grocery store in the area.
