🐯 The Tigers Come Home Saturday, and We've Got Your Game Day Guide
The Memphis Tigers beat UNLV 27–21 in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Now they come home to a brand-new Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
🏟️ New digs. The Tigers host Arkansas State this Saturday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. It's the first game in the renovated stadium, a $226.5 million project with a new tower, plaza, and better sightlines. The game streams on ESPN+.

🏥 St. Jude Is Building a $41 Million Home for Its Data
St Jude Children’s Research Hospital
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital wants to expand the data center on its Downtown campus..
💾 Big data, bigger mission. The $41 million project is part of St. Jude's $12.9 billion plan to grow the hospital and its research. Modern cancer research runs on huge amounts of data. That data needs a home.
🏗️ Cranes everywhere. It joins a campus already in build mode. An $810 million, 17-story research tower is set to finish in 2029. It will be the tallest building St. Jude has ever built.

🎈 Celebrate Our City: A Free 901 Day Bash at Loflin Yard
901 Day is tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 1, and Choose901 is celebrating our city at Loflin Yard.
🎧 Yard party. A DJ spins from 5 to 8:30 p.m., then live music takes over at 8:30. Happy hour food and drink prices run all night.
🐶 Bring everyone. It's free, family-friendly, and pet-friendly. Loflin Yard is at 7 W. Carolina Ave. The party runs 5 to 10 p.m.

🎶Alabama Takes the Garden Stage Thursday Night
Alabama
The band behind "Mountain Music" and "Dixieland Delight" is coming to town. Alabama plays Live at the Garden this Thursday, Sept. 3, a make-up date for the postponed June show.
🪑 Lawn chair country. Gates at 5:30 p.m., music at 8. Country singer Michael Ray opens. Pack a cooler, because BYOB is allowed, and grab the free shuttle so you don't have to hunt for a spot.
🎟️ Rain check, redeemed. Had tickets for June 13? They're still good for Thursday. Everyone else can still buy on Ticketmaster. The show is at Memphis Botanic Gardnen, rain or shine. All ages welcome.

🥂 Dinner with strangers (on purpose). Tickets are on sale for Taste of Thornwood, a sit-down dinner party on Sunday, Oct. 4, 5 to 8 p.m. Pick your restaurant, and you get a three-course meal with drink pairings from JoJo's Espresso, Moondance Grill, The Overland, or Uncle Goyo's. 🍻 Back on the Strip. The Highland Strip's most famous bar is back. Newby's reopened Aug. 20 at 539 S. Highland St. with new owner Sam Stalnaker running the show. It has been a University of Memphis hangout since 1975, and this is at least its third life. Some things just refuse to graduate.
🦸 Heroes and villains. The Memphis Zoo's biggest party of the year is back. Zoo Rendezvous is Friday, Sept. 11, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Come dressed as a hero, a villain, or your alter ego. You get unlimited food and drink tastings, five DJs, and LOVER: An Eras Tour Experience. Note: the Zoo is closed to the public that day.
🥧 Sweet tradition. For more than 30 years, the Germantown Women's Club has sold homemade pies, cakes, and cookies at the Germantown Festival. This year's festival is Sept. 12 and 13 at C.O. Franklin Park. More than 50 members bake the breads, cakes, cookies, and pies. The money supports the library, GPAC, and other local causes, and the table sells out every year.
🚴 World's cutest triathlon. Grab the tricycle. Bartlett's 17th annual Small Fry Tri is Saturday, Sept. 19, at W.J. Freeman Park. Ages 2 to 6 run, ride, and splash through the sprinklers to the finish, where a medal is waiting. Parents can help along the course. Helmets required.
♟️ Check, mate. Tennessee's best chess players are coming Downtown for the Tennessee Open and State Championship, Sept. 4 to 7. It's the third time in five years Memphis has hosted. Rounds run at the Memphis Chess Club and the Downtown Holiday Inn, and $10,001 in prizes is on the line, a record for the event.
📬 Stamp of disapproval. The Postal Service wants to raise package prices for the holidays, about 6 percent on average. It covers Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select from Oct. 4 to Jan. 17. Letters and stamps stay the same. The plan still needs a final OK from regulators.
💊 Pharmacy refund. Kroger has agreed to a proposed $17 million settlement over how it priced some prescriptions. If you filled a prescription at a Kroger pharmacy and paid with insurance, you may be owed money. File a claim by Dec. 21 at KrogerSavingsClubSettlement.com. Not sure you qualify? File anyway. They'll check.
🚬 Cigars on Beale. The Beale Street Cigar Festival is back for its 11th year this Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 and 6. The party takes over the whole street in front of Robusto by Havana Mix, with big cigar brands, live music, food trucks, and giveaways. Proceeds help A Safe Place Inc.
