👑 Elvis Week Is On at Graceland Through Aug. 16

Elvis Week

Elvis Week 2026 kicked off Saturday, bringing fans from all over the world to Memphis for nine days of music, memories, and one very famous driveway.

  • 🎤 A week of shows. Highlights include Elvis Unplugged & Amplified (Aug. 12), ELVIS 1956 (Aug. 13), Elvis Presley in Concert with a live band (Aug. 14), and Conversations on Elvis (Aug. 15) with friends who knew him best.

  • 🕯️ Light the night. The week's biggest moment is the Candlelight Vigil on Saturday, Aug. 15. It's free and open to everyone — fans carry candles up the driveway to Elvis' gravesite, and the walk runs into the early morning of Aug. 16, the anniversary of his passing. Can't make it? 🎡 The Delta Fair Is Coming Back Sept. 4–13

2026 Delta Fair

The Delta Fair & Music Festival returns to the Agricenter for 10 big days of rides, fair food, and live shows.

  • 🤠 Bulls, bears & dinos. This year's lineup includes a live rodeo, a grizzly bear show, walk-through dinosaur encounters, escape artist Lady Houdini, the Rastelli Circus, and a cosplay contest.

  • 🛒 Kroger run. Starting Aug. 21, Kroger stores will sell a $94 Family Fun Pack (a $122 value) with two adult tickets, two kid tickets, and two ride wristbands — good any day of the fair.

⚽ Memphis Tigers Soccer Kicks Off This Week With Back-to-Back Home Nights

Tigers Women’s Soccer

Memphis Tigers soccer is back on South Campus this week with two straight nights of home games at the Billy J. Murphy Track & Soccer Complex.

  • 🌙 Tuesday tune-up. The men host Blue Mountain Christian on Tuesday at 7 PM in their final exhibition before the real season starts Aug. 20 at Belmont. The squad returns 11 players hungry to bounce back.

  • 🏆 Wednesday for real. The women open the regular season Wednesday at 7 PM against Kennesaw State, and it doubles as senior night. Last year's team went 17-1-3, reached the NCAA Tournament, and was just voted the unanimous preseason favorite to win the American Conference.

  • Catch the fever. Fresh off a World Cup summer, the Tigers are hoping the soccer wave rolls to South Campus. Women's attendance jumped 93% last season.

🎨 Welcome to Memphis. A new FedEx-themed mural now greets drivers on Plough Boulevard leaving the airport, featuring classic Memphis imagery, FedEx planes, and the late founder Fred Smith. The timing fits: the airport is set to officially become Frederick W. Smith International Airport this week.

❄️ Winter, already? The Old Farmer's Almanac just dropped its 2026–27 winter forecast, and El Niño is the star. Translation for the Mid-South: a wetter-than-normal winter with an active southern storm track… so keep the umbrella AND the ice scraper handy.

🎶 Soul man on air. Memphis music legend David Porter — the Stax songwriter behind "Soul Man" and "Hold On, I'm Comin'" — sat down with the nationally syndicated Breakfast Club to talk his new memoir, The Soul Man, Stax Records, and the songs he wrote with Isaac Hayes that the whole world still sings.

🎓 807 forever. The City of Memphis and Shelby County have officially declared Aug. 7 "LeMoyne-Owen College Day." The city's only HBCU marked it with its 807 Giving Day telethon — 12 hours of fundraising named for its address at 807 Walker Ave. — with a $200,000 goal for scholarships and student support.

Dream debut. Memphis' own Kaelen Culpepper (a St. Benedict at Auburndale alum and 2024 MLB first-round pick) made his professional baseball debut for the Minnesota Twins Friday night and hit a homerun in his second at-bat. He's the first Twin to go deep in his debut since 2022.

🌉 Walk this way. The pedestrian Skybridge connecting downtown to Mud Island River Park has reopened, with hours of 7 AM to 7 PM daily. The half-mile walk over the harbor is free, and the giant MEMPHIS sign photo op is waiting on the other side.
